Dr. Bryda has written brief articles about a number of endocrinological disorders:

HYPERTHYROIDISM
Caused by excessive release of thyroid hormones. Physical examination will often reveal a fidgety person, rapid heart rate with loud heart tones, and often an enlargement of the thyroid gland.
HYPOTHYROIDISM
Caused by an insufficient secretion of hormone by the thyroid gland. Symptoms of such deficiency are sluggishness, both mental and physical, feeling cold when other people are not. Weight gain often develops, despite reduced food intake.
CUSHING SYNDROME
Caused by excessive levels of the adrenal hormone cortisol. This condition can cause central obesity, thinning of the skin, large pink stretch marks, easy bruisability, poor wound healing and muscle weakness.
MALE HYPOGONADISM
Occurs when the secretion of the testes is insufficient. Symptoms include low sex drive, erections problems, diminished physical strength, reduced physical stamina and depression.
